Distinctive research-led offerings
Make research products inspectable before making them persuasive.
A benchmark, index or assurance framework needs a clear construct, versioned method and honest limits. Design research so readers can understand what the evidence supports and what remains unknown.
Make research products inspectable before making them persuasive
- Research question
- Defines the decision and population the work addresses.
- Measurement construct
- States what the benchmark or framework represents.
- Evidence protocol
- Records case selection, versions, scoring and provenance.
- Interpretation boundary
- Limits conclusions to what the design can support.
Discipline model
Define what the research construct actually measures
The relationships that define the discipline
- Research question
- The intended decision determines what population and behaviour to investigate.
- Measurement construct
- A construct links a real question to observable measures and known proxies.
- Evidence protocol
- Common conditions make versioned observations interpretable across comparisons.
- Interpretation boundary
- Method and sample limits travel with every conclusion derived from the work.
Distinctive research can give decision makers a better way to examine reliability, authority, isolation or impact. The title of an index or framework is not evidence that a published product exists. Begin with the decision it should inform, identify the unit of analysis and explain how the method distinguishes meaningful behaviour from an attractive but weak proxy.
Working approach
Make comparison conditions and missing evidence visible
Proposed investigation sequence
- Define research question
State the decision and conditions the work must address.
- Map measurement construct
Connect the relevant actors, configuration and evidence.
- Examine evidence protocol
Use agreed evidence and controlled cases where appropriate.
- Review interpretation boundary
Record limits, ownership and the condition for a next decision.
Specify the method and inclusion rules before gathering results. Use controlled, versioned cases where comparisons require them, record missing data and examine disconfirming evidence. Review measurement validity, repeatability and limitations before releasing a result. Research interests, sponsorship and implementation involvement need disclosure where they affect interpretation.
Working artefact
A research claim should travel with its method
Illustrative working record
Illustrative working format
- Research question
- Define the subject and the requirement the record addresses.
- Evidence reference
- Link source, version and observed condition without copying sensitive material.
- Evidence protocol
- Explain the finding or choice and its consequence.
- Interpretation boundary
- Assign the next action and state what remains unresolved.
A research artefact should pair each finding with its method, sample or scenario boundary, source provenance and uncertainty. A comparison also needs common conditions and a defensible interpretation. Where no eligible result exists, an illustrative framework can explain the proposed method without invented scores, ranks or customer outcomes.
Illustrative situation
Different permissions can invalidate a comparison
A constructed situation to reason through
Illustrative scenario
- Comparison planned
Two agent configurations are proposed for a reliability study.
- Conditions differ
Their available tools and task permissions are not equivalent.
- Research decision
Align the comparison or report the limits before interpreting results.
Use this situation to identify the evidence that would change the decision. The proposed examination must stay within the agreed scope, and any conclusion must describe the conditions actually inspected.
Scope and next decision
A research title does not establish a published product
Prepare a bounded next discussion
- Research question
- Bring one concrete workflow question and its accountable owner.
- Measurement construct
- Identify the evidence and access that can be made available.
- Evidence protocol
- Agree the specialist involvement and responsibilities required.
- Written scope
- Confirm activities, evidence, readiness and acceptance before commitment.
Cataloged research concepts are not claims of published indices, accredited assurance or established market coverage. Formal independence and certification require evidence of qualifications and governance. Public findings need source and claims review before publication.
